NEW DEMO, FREE DOWNLOADS & SHOW ANNOUNCEMENT

We're excited to announce we are working on an LP, with a projected release date of JULY 2011!

It's a project that's been long overdue and we all look forward to getting it out of our brains and into your clutches!

In honor of that, we've uploaded a new demo onto our BANDCAMP page, entitled "It's Not That Easy." It's the first song we've recorded with Geoff on lead vocals and it's a punky mash up that we hope you'll enjoy :)

Alongside it, we've also uploaded all of our previous efforts, with singles downloadable for free and the full albums set for you to name your own price. Your support will go directly towards funding our new record and hopefully a tour!

Also on April 16th we'll be playing alongside our pals, Eula, who are throwing a record release party at Bruar Falls. Check out http://www.eulamusic.com for clips off their latest record, "Maurice Narcisse" which we've been waiting for since they posted demos for it back in October.

So where have we been?

Word spread quick amongst friends that we were "back." YES it's true!
We've spent the past year catching up on new hobbies. teaching. animating. building instruments. starting new bands. improving our chops so to speak.
Our new ideas have gone from a rolling boil (since our last update) to straight up overflowing!

As of November 2010, we'd regrouped, complete with our newest addition, Max Tucker (not related to Mo) on the drums/percussion who's been an active members of groups like Patrick Cleandenim, Twin Shadow and Francis & The Lights. He's everything we always wanted in a drummer!

What's the plan?

New songs. New album. Shows. Dancing. Videos. Ascension into higher levels of consciousness.
Ya dig?

Needless to say we're EXCITED.
Our next show is April 16th with our good buds EULA @ BRUAR FALLS. HOPE TO SEE YA THERE!

Hello all,

2008-2010 thus far has been a great streak for pow wow!
I'm sure there are some of you who wonder where we have been.

Have we broken up? hell no.
Are we still making music? absolutely. we're just keeping it secret for now.
When is our next show? we are currently taking a short break from playing shows to regroup and develop, rehearse and record material for our upcoming full length album!

First I'd like to make a formal apology for canceling a show (because literally the entire band got sick one by one the entire month) put on in February by our friends at Stereoactive NYC, and most recently a planned show with our very good buddies Dinosaur Feathers, who will be back from tour April 10th! We very much wanted to be a part of such a grand homecoming at Union Hall, but unfortunately will have members away on 2 separate business trips which could not be avoided.

The good news:

pow wow! is working on new material and should be back out with a new record and playing a slew of shows come summer 2010. Stay tuned here for new tracks coming very soon! and if all goes according to planned, the release of pow wow!'s first official full length record :D

It's a special day coming up next thursday? Why? Well, first and foremost, we're playing with our buddies, who we personally think are one of the best bands playing out of NYC/Brooklyn right now...Eastern Midwestern. They play a bittersweet brand of pop that they played for us this past Halloween and totally blew our minds! (Bear costumes and all). Headlining this show is DFA's buttrock-powerhouses Free Energy, who we were lucky enough to see this past summer at the Northside Festival. Really fun and catchy band from Philly.

Another reason...is it's gonna be a birthday extravaganza of sorts for us pow wow!-ers. Kitten's b'day was just yesterday, and on the night of this PIANOS show, it's going to be Eddie's b'day, and by the time the clock strikes midnight it will be John Paul's b'day! Yes, we are bound astrologically.

It's been a bit since we last updated, and a LOT of things have changed.

Firstly, I'd like you all to give a warm welcome to our newest member, Amanda aka. Kitten, who is our wonderful, talented and beautiful new lead guitar player, who made her debut with us a few months ago, and joined us for CMJ among other fantastic shows.
I'd also like to welcome back (for those of you who have been riding the pow wow! train since 2006) our good buddy and amazing drummer, Chris.
They have been playing with us for a bit, and we're revved up and ready to go for 2010, which will yield the release of our first full length record in April on our label, Stunning Models on Display.

This Friday finds us playing our last show of this year, our 80th, yes count it, 80th! show of 2009. It's been a busy busy but exciting year and we look forward to seeing you all at The Studio at Webster Hall December 18th. Its a show presented by our good friends at the Deli Magazine.

We've also pressed more copies of our collection of singles, A's B's + C's, which are available for $7 and includes 14 tracks, at our shows and soon mailorder.

Today we also are featured on the front page of MTV iggy, for a spot sponsored by Subway which covers new artists across the globe. Featured is an interview done at EAT RECORDS in greenpoint (thanks Casey!) and a performance at Southpaw (thanks Doug!) Also HUGE Thanks to Woody and Jamie for putting this thing together and reaching out to us :)

Drums...they be done.
Take after take of percussive goodness yielded good results.
Some oldies but goodies...some newbies but really-goodies.
Once again, the sun chips were abound. Jefferson played his new guitar.
JPA looked cool as ever. Edward Anthony sang his heart out on scratch tracks he new would never see the light of day.
And Montgomery sweated his ass off.
Next week begins another chapter in the quest to make the first pow wow! ep as magical as possible.
Guitars, keyboards, bass, vocals and handclaps to come.
We still think Sonic Youth rules harder than anyone ever and we decided that there is nothing in the world sexier than being 16 and lusting after the girl from English class in the Smiths t-shirt and her dad's oversize army jacket.

Last night, the fearless, flealess, flashdancing fucks of pow wow! hunkered down in the Queens studio of our label head/producer/stallion Kieran to begin tracking for our debut EP.
We got a good deal done. Tracked some drums, ate some sun chips, talked some shit, played new guitars, dozed off, stared at each other, put on headphones, took off headphones, adjusted our belts, talked about Sonic Youth, fucked around, got turkey sandwiches, laid down some scratch tracks, discussed printing a pow wow! thong, laughed, cried and danced.
It's only been a day but we're really happy with what we've got so far. The pace is good. The sounds are good. We just can't wait to hold our own vinyl in our filthy little hands. And we really hope you can't wait to hold in yours.

This week: Permanent Records Instore & Cake Shop 4 YR Anniversary!

Hello all! Thanks to everyone for making both shows @ Glasslands & Lit just plain AMAZING. This week, we've got another Weekend - Brooklyn/Manhattan Double Header!

Friday, you'll find us early in the night @ Permanent Records for a live instore performance. We're really excited about this show. It'll be our first instore, and Permanent is one of our favorite rec stores in all of Brooklyn! Show starts promptly at 7:30.

Saturday finds us on an INCREDIBLE bill, where we help the Cakeshop celebrate it's 4th Birthday! There are over 15 bands scheduled to play (bill subject to change), and each will be playing what Andy called "Microsets", 12 minute performances by each band, and a new drink special for in between groups! Along with our friends Los Basement, The Beets, Darlings, My Teenage Stride, Kittens Ablaze + MORE! This party show starts early and goes LATE. You definitely don't wanna miss this!

In other news, we begin recording for our new EP starting Tuesday, @ The Buddy Project in Astoria, Queens. The EP will feature 23 19 + new songs, and is due out in June.

Two shows this week! Glasslands, Brooklyn & Lit Lounge, Manhattan

We have two shows this week. The first one in Brooklyn, with fellow L magazine "8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear" pick, Darlings, who we haven't gotten a chance to formally meet yet, but are easily one of our favorite NYC city bands right now. They play a punky rowdy mix of pop, and judging from the video we saw of them performing @ Dead Herring, they're gonna put on a hell of a show. This show is presented by our friends over @ Quietcolor.com

The second, only one nite later, falls on friday in Manhattan, at the infamous Lit Lounge. With our best bud, Los Basement, + our new buds Dinosaur Feathers + Wide World. Presented by Attention Space Cadets.

We hope to see you all at one or the other, as both shows will be, well...fucking awesome.

We've been lagging behind on updates as you may have noticed, but only because we're up to our fuzzy eyebrows in craziness these days!

We're pleased (and honored to announce) that we've made L Magazine's Annual "8 NYC Bands You Need To Hear" issue, alongside 2 of our favorite bands right now The Beets (who we are playing with @ Red Star TONITE!), & Darlings (who we will be playing with @ Glasslands May 7th as part of Quietcolor's showcase), as well as The Albertans, Xylos, Anamanaguchi, Emmanuel & The Fear, Savoir Adore.

Special Thanks to Mike & Lauren @ The L Magazine for including us, and getting us super wasted during the photoshoot @ Bushwick Country Club!

In other news we've got 3 confirmed dates (possibly 4) for Northside Festival, the L magazine's summertime SXSW-esque festival, with showcases from over 30+ contributors all over Williamsburg and Greenpoint over the course of three days. We've been lucky enough to be asked by several showcasers to play their shows:

It will be coming out just in time for our tour which we will be kicking off Thursday July 9th. 23 19, will be the first of 3 proposed EPs to come out before year's end.

Geez Louise. It's been one of those weeks where the pow wow! train just hasn't stopped. We showed New York much love this week, and it gave back in a big way! And that retarded, fuzzy, warm feeling's still reverberating through the gang as we type this.

First off thanks to Warm Snow (be on the lookout for this band...they are unreal.), The Raskils, our favorite balladeer, Los Basement, and our art partner in crime, the lovely Miss Lauren Fatzinger (for that knockout set she built...pictures to come soon) for the amazing time we had playing the School of Visual art's monthly: "Senior Boys Club" event, this past monday.

A Tuesday thanks to Femi who put's on Hollerd!!! and Camilla who helped DJ the pow wow! musical jukebox extravaganza that was Royal Oak that evening.

Wednesday thank you's to Andy Bodor, Isabelle (who helped do our sound) and DJ Amanda Chouette for inviting us to be a secret band on the bill as we played a rainy opening of Bruar Falls in Williamsburg Brooklyn. Its a sweet lil new venue/bar (dubbed the Cakeshop Brooklyn, as the are all owned by the same people) where Lucky Cat used to be on Grand St. (right across from Trash Bar/Clems) and here's a shout to a brilliant set by our new friends via Boston, White Hinterland!

Last nite was amazing, as we played Attention Space Cadet's: The Roster @ Cameo Gallery! w/ our buddy James in Los Basement, the sexy as always Elizabeth Harper & the Matinee, and My Teenage Stride who rocked the house as headliner providing us with a double encore! and thanks J.L. McVay and everyone at StereoactiveNYC for taking pics and reviewing the show! and most importantly...all of our friends who came out and helped us get that crowd a movin'...that's you Renee, Nobu, Yura, Yuriko, Camilla and, especially Lauren Fatzinger who provided us with a beautiful backdrop installation that night!

We'll be playing one more show this week, at La Casa De Joe, in New Brunswick New Jersey on Saturday, for "A Date With Shame". It's going to be the first party back in NJ we've played in over 5 years. We are all pretty excited about that!

BIG UPDATE: On the frontpage of Oh My Rockness! New band & Upcoming record releases/labels

We're honored to announce we made the front page of Oh My Rockness today, one of our favorite sites for shows and new bands. After speaking with Claire over the past few days, it is confirmed: that pow wow!+ OMR = pure love. :)

And we're looking forward to being featured on one of their upcoming shows for the summer and potentially their CMJ showcase.

In other news, we'd like to welcome our newest warrior: Jean Paul Anthony, who made a his debut with us this past saturday nite, and helped us shake the establishment, and helped get those asses a movin' at the Metropolitan Social Club. Alongside him, and our new drummer Michael "Monty" Youngblood, the pow wow! train is all aboard and will be playing the hell out of the northeast in coming months in preparation for our tour in July. Dates posted soon.

We're also pleased to announce the release of two limited edition EP's, featuring 4 to five songs, the first of which will be released late May/Early June on Royal Rhino Flying Records, and currently being tracked at Five Towns. The second which we are to track within a month with The Buddy Project, and to be released on Stunning Models on Display.

it's been a big week for us this past week. upon launching an extensive promotional campaign on sites like Myspace and Facebook, on top of sending out our music to tons of blogs, we've been logging upwards of 1000+ plays a day, and are getting an unfathomable number of friend adds in one week. I wanna take the time to thank everyone for their wonderful and encouraging comments, and for those who have helped us thus far, especially chris from the Battering Room, for all his support and coverage of our music.
